Busy half term so far

June 29th, 2010 by

We have been creating an e-safety video concerning the subject of cyber-bullying.  We all recently sat down and watched each teams videos and marked it against success criteria.  Eventually, Jayden’s team was chosen to represent the school at the NELMA awards (a movie ceremony to be held at the Grimsby Auditorium) … it’s a top video.

We are also working hard on our school production – HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL.  We have learnt all the songs and the main actors have worked exceptionally hard to learn lots of lines.  Grace is Sharpay and she is a superb actress … it’s going to be an amazing show!

JUNGLE BOOK

April 1st, 2010 by

Last week we were working on our ‘Jungle Book’ theme (written by Rudyard Kipling) and we were drawing and painting a scene outside BALOO’s cave.  We also had a theater company visit who came to perform the original version of ‘The  Jungle Book’ … it was fantastic.   Also we wrote our own version of the Jungle Book as a play script including stage instructions, colons, dialogue, narrator, cast, adverbs etc.

SPORTS

April 1st, 2010 by

Last week 10 pupils out of  y6 and y5  competed in a race called the cross-country and Erin (who is a very fast runner) came eighth out of  125 people.  Also  everybody  who took part did excellent but we didn’t win. In addition, we had a rugby tornament and we got into the quarter finals and the first game we played we won 5-1.  2 weeks ago we (the y6 football team) went to Signhills and drew both games and Mr Bate said we were the best team of the day but luck wasn’t with us.

Fairground madness

February 25th, 2010 by

This week the whole of year six are doing an exciting and fun project on fairgrounds.   We have all got into groups of four or three and we have identified the things we will have to include in our fairground ride:  the fairground ride must only use rotary motion (going in circles) and we have learnt about other types of motions also, for example linear motion, complex motion. On Tuesday we made some models out of lego kits which had to include a pulley and find a way to make a lego spindle stable. Some of us actually got on to drawing two types of elevations  of our fairground rides.

Fairground fun!!!

February 25th, 2010 by

In class we had a guest called Stuart who helped us design a fairground ride using wood and motors etc.  After that we made the base for our fairground ride and some teams got a bit angry when we glued the wood on because it kept falling off … OH NO!  Stuart explained to us that the elastic bands were called drive belts and he showed us a pully called a cross pully that rotates an output the opposite way to the motor … AMAZING.
