Comic Relief 2009! (Funny for Money)

Posted on March 18th, 2009 in 6 B Events by class6b

On Friday 13th March it was comic relief. Our theme was MAD HAIR DAY! We started off the day by doing an assembly on how the money is used.  This year the school could choose what they wanted to do with the money. At play time, instead of our normal tuck shop, we sold cakes and drinks and the money raised was given to comic relief. Many people dressed up in their pyjamas, fancy dress and some even had huge red afros! In the afternoon we had another assembly (the funniest of them all!).  We had most of the teachers singing and dancing. Mrs.Bennett sang ‘One way or another’ and she also sang ‘Waterloo’ with Ms.Jones. Mrs White , Mrs Snell , Miss Stark , Declan Edwards , Harry Hawkey and Robbie Samuels sang ‘Islands in the stream’ , all the teachers sang ‘Amarillo’  and everyone stood up and marched! Finally, Mr Bate sang ‘ Twist and Shout’ . It was the best comic relief day of all!

WELL DONE EVERYONE THAT DONATED!!

TESTS … TESTS … AND MORE TESTS!

Last week the children took their mock SATs tests in reading, writing, maths and science.  They all conducted themselves extremely well making sure they kept to all the rules of testing.  I was very proud of all of them as the tests were not easy and not one child gave up at any point.

Well done guys!

6B Test Week!

Posted on December 11th, 2008 in 6 B Events by class6b

This week 6B and 6E have done tests all week. It has been a lot different to our usual timetable! We have done : Science A + B, Reading test, spelling test, Maths (mental) , Maths non-calculator and Maths calculator allowed. In the after-noons we did some nice activities like : Plastercine models for the film we saw, “Clash Of The Titans”. It was a great film, considering it was made in the 1980’s, we loved every second. The reason we built the plastercine models is because we are recreating scenes from the classic film! To film our animations we used the Digital Blue Movie Creators ( Digi-blue).  Unfortunately, there was an error /70 that interrupted our scenes making us unable to save. That error slowed us down. But we were very resiliant and every time we were brought down a peg we climbed up more and more.

Good news the error 70 was solved by Mr Steer … wooooooooooooooooooooooooh!

THIS WEEK WAS BRILLIANT!

Moviemakers of the future!

On the 3rd December 2008, six of my class will be representing the school at an evening awards ceremony, to be held at Grimsby Central Hall.  There, they will premier their own music video containing music, still and moving images and audio.  The whole piece was written, directed and produced by the children themselves … including the music.  They have taken their own emotion poems, created in Literacy, and given them a modern flavour.  May I take this opportunity to wish them the best of luck and I hope they enjoy the evening with their families and friends.

Children in Need

Posted on November 17th, 2008 in 6 B Events by class6b

Well this Friday we have been dressing up like a pop star or a movie character for ‘Children in Need’.  For example, Ozzy Osbourne, Noel Gallagher and Stephanie from ‘LAZYTOWN’.   We had some delicious cakes, a competition and the teachers are going to do a wildcat dance this afternoon. It is going to be so funny!
